Unveiling Artistic Mastery: A Journey Through Mediums
Exploring My Artistic Path
It's amazing how time⏳ flys✈️ when it comes to certain situations. I can remember back when I first started my dabblings in art🎨. I remember the first medium that I used which was colored pencil. I wasn't a fan of colored pencil but I adapted to it pretty good. I then moved on to colored pen🖊️ 'O' Happy Day!... Loved colored pen🖊️ became a part of it or it became a part of me.... I thrived in colored pen🖊️. I then dabbled here and there in oil pastels and the soft & hard pastels. They were a little fun. Then came painting🖼️ so I was going to see what was mightier the pen 🖊️ or the brush 🖌️. Watercolors🎨 were first and I was not thrilled. Then came acrylic and it's as if my hand touched a magic ✨ brush🖌️. All of a sudden art forms just started jumping out onto the canvas and I couldn't stop. I was touched with the magic of art and it's as if I was living in my imagination, unfortunately I found that it was also extremely expensive to do acrylic painting🖼️ and I had to give it up. A couple of years went by and I was in an artistic black hole🕳️, I didn't know what I was going to create or even what medium to use. So I put my art hat🎩 on a shelf and forgot about it and every once in awhile I would take ol' hat🎩 off the shelf dust it off and do a little art but I would never feed it. Pretty soon I forgot about that ol' hat🎩 and left it on the shelf gathering dust till one day I decided to pull the ol' hat🎩 of the shelf. It started with a little dabbling in marker pens🖊️. Then one day as I was recouperating in a nursing facility I found some glue🍯, some glitter🎉 and a pencil✏️ and that was all there was so I got to doing some thinking.... "POOF" Magic🪄 sprang into my hands👐 and it started to take off, I was creating again. It's as if that ol' hat🎩 never left me and was never put on the shelf. Almost 1 1/2 years ago I started on this artistic journey into glitter and didn't have a clue to what I was doing or if anything was going to come out of it. Fast forward 1 1/2 years and I am still learning new techniques and skills with glitter, however I continually turn works of art that amaze me every time I finish one. From the days of fingers and dinner plates to brushes and canvas I continually grow and learn the ways with working with glitter. With the thanks of the support I receive from the friends and acquaintances around me and God's guidance with my hands I hope to continue to put out amazing works of art.
Crafting Magic: The Art Process
When I think about art I like to imagine what wants to be the canvas or the paper. Usually I do this by asking a client or using a template to guide me in whatever I am about to create. Sometimes I just wing it by letting it flow freely from my mind. After I have an image of what I want to create I create the outline of my little piece of magic unless of course it's already there. I then think of the rational color that would be used and use that color as a base for what colors I intend to use and follow from there... That's where and when my mind freely flows and my imagination takes off and colors begin to swirl.
Artistic Hurdles and Triumphs
I think the biggest challenge I have with art is the monetary kind. Art is an expensive monster that feeds on money. It stopped my acrylic painting phase dead in its tracks. However even though it's expensive I kinda still do art cause it's not about the money for me it's about the notoriety. There are some challenges with working with glitter though like learning new techniques and skills. It's not like working with any other medium out there it is Its own animal altogether. Blending techniques, combination techniques, mixing techniques are all different, nothing compared to painting.
Sparking Creativity
I don't need much to inspire me to create art as it's my imagination that is my creation center but it helps sometimes when something pops out at me for a little inspiration. However the biggest working drive these days behind what I do or create is God. It's my faith in him that drives my hands in whatever I create.
